Case Study - Basement Sewage Flood

Sewage flood in basement of multi-storey office and residential building

Client: Occupant of the ground floor offices
Property:   Basement Services Area in a Central London Office & Residential Building
Event:  
  • Sewage spill from a pumping station in the sub-basement, causing extensive black water contamination underneath this multi-storey office & residential building.
  • The sewage flood was generating foul odour that was permeating throughout the communal parts of this office and residential building, causing discomfort and potential health risk – particularly to the residential occupants.
Response:  
  • AnyTime UK was first able to provide advice on halting the sewage leak.
  • A response team was then dispatched with the necessary equipment for a professional, thorough sewage spill remediation operation.
  • Foul air was removed from the building circulation with the use of numerous air movers creating a negative air pressure in the basement. This improved the comfort of the building occupants.
  • Sewage was then removed and the basement cleaned by means of high pressure jet washing of surfaces and extracting waste & sediment. Heavy sediment was bagged and removed off site.
  • Contamination risk was removed with an application of anti-microbial and deodorising solutions to mitigate microbial development of bacteria, moulds and yeasts.
  • The basement was left clean and odour free, with the associated risks of the sewage spill having been removed.
  • The client was delighted with the improvement in cleanliness and odour.

Comments:   Although this particular client wishes to remain anonymous, while on site the operatives were advised by the Facilities Manager that the company and management were extremely impressed with the level of service provided.
